We are absolutely heartbroken over the passing of Ben Selecman, son-in-law of Country Music legend, Alan Jackson. Ben had a boating accident last week while in Florida and passed away yesterday, September 12, 2018.
Southern Bride was honored to share the beautiful wedding of Ben and his wife, Mattie and our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Mattie, both families and all of those who loved and knew Ben.

Recently viewed Mattie and Ben’s beautiful wedding. They both looked so incredibly happy. I’m sorry for this tremendous loss. May God wrap his loving arms around those who loved Ben.

My heart is broken for the sudden & unexpected loss of Ben Selecman. The greater the love the greater the loss, so I am praying for the broken hearts of Mattie, and Ben’s parents, family, & friends. Praying for the peace that surpasses all understanding and that they will feel God’s loving arms wrapped around them.

I share Mattie’s grief and know her heartbreak. I was married on December 28 1990, and 5 months 22 days later on June 20, 1991, a drunk driver took the life of my husband. It is devasting. My thoughts and prayers for ger and the family. It will be a long year of the “firsts”. The first birthday, holiday etc… without the love of your life. Don’t be afraid to grieve, the pain will lessen, it will not go away. 27 years later, there is still not a day goes by, that his memory does not creep into my mind. He is my guardian angel now. I have remarried, not the same, but,I am living the life that I have been dealt.

Mattie my prayers are with you during this difficult time. Looking at the two of you together in your wedding video gives me chills, such a beautiful couple, enjoying life to the fullest. May God wrap his arms around you, your family, his family and all who knew and loved him.

To Mattie, her husband’s family and the Jackson family who will have to hold Mattie up when she has those dark moments of despair and sorrow, you ALL have my deepest sympathies. We all watched and shared the happiness of your spectacular wedding video. A dream wedding for any girl. Now begins your new “normal”, Mattie… it begins a life without your precious Ben, and as his friends, family and colleagues also deal with their loss, you will figure out a way to put one foot in front of the other until you feel the freedom to smile again. I couldn’t help re-watch the wedding video and have the thought that those same friends and relatives will have the unbelievable task of sending Ben to his final resting place. Cherish your memories – he will walk beside you the rest of your lives. This I truly believe…

Mattie you might be broken hearted right now . but I know how you feel too , I lost my first love of my life in 1994 , it was a hit and run and killed my husband instantly too … till this day it will never be the same . But I do wish you the best in your life too Lisa … and God Bless You all too…
